My coworker just got back from Paris on Sunday and graciously bought me an entire box of macarons from La Maison du Chocolat. It was such a nice surprise! I was in Paris a few years back and I fell in love with these little hamburger looking delights. Please note that these are nothing like those coconut macaroons you see here in the States.
The ones I've had in the past have either had butter cream in the center or jelly. I had no idea they had some with chocolate ganache in the middle, and let me tell you - I'm in love. I had three yesterday afternoon, and two this morning with my coffee!
In my defense, I just had to try the different flavors :)
Coffee, Raspberry, Vanilla, Caramel, and Pistachio are the ones I've had so far. All of these had a chocolate ganache of some sort. I think some were milk chocolate and some were dark chocolate... and the raspberry one was a raspberry chocolate ganache. The last one I've yet to try is the chocolate flavor.
*I don't think they sell the Pistachio in the States. It's green and not listed above.
If you can't make it out to Paris, perhaps you can try NYC. ;) La Maison du Chocolat also has boutiques in Tokyo, Hong Kong, Cannes, and London.

oh man angela... these macaroons are so good! my cousin brought us back a box not to long ago and i wanted the whole thing to myself, but i have a big family =(
ReplyDeletethere's a really good place in hillcrest that sells macarons. kind of pricey but absolutely delicious! i don't remember the name and i can't find it on yelp :( all i remember is that it is walking distance from kemo sabe. and they had pistachio flavor! cheers to being fatties! :]
