Oct. 14 - 21, start booking now!
Obviously I haven't participated in this particular restaurant week, but I loved it in New York. Unfortunately, I loved the idea much more than the places that I tried (one restaurant I dined at was so bad that it is now CLOSED). The idea is to try expensive, otherwise-couldn't-afford restaurants for a $35 three-course pri-fixe menu. It includes an appetizer, entree and dessert but not drinks, sales tax or tip. I've taken a look at the list for Silicon Valley's and would love to make some suggestions.
Try these places:
Alexanders (duh! See previous posts :))
Fahrenheit
Parcel 104
Straits
Thea
SKIP these places!
Cafe Torre
Tarragon
Morton's Steakhouse
Overall I think the restaurant list is pretty poor. Most of the places aren't that expensive ($$) to begin with so you're not really getting a good deal. Even Straits and Fahrenheit aren't too pricey but since their food is definitely worth trying, I threw them on the list. The BEST deal and the MOST recommended places by me are Alexanders and Parcel -- my favorite restaurants in the Bay. I've also eaten at Village Bistro, Left Bank, Olio and Fontanas... no complaints but I wouldn't recommend them for Restaurant Week. Two places that I might hit up: Arcadia and Wine Cellar; I've been meaning to go to the both for years.
Dress up, go out, eat (hopefully) good food :) Remember to book in advance through OpenTable!
I've been to Arcadia before and it's pretty good. It's better than the Michael Mina restaurant in SF, which my brother said was too salty.
ReplyDeleteBtw, Santana Row also has a Wine and Dine Around event this weekend. $25 and you get to eat around and shop at the same time.
