More Japanese food! I was at home over the weekend, home being Northern Virginia or the Washington D.C. area, whichever you prefer, and my family and I stopped in at Sushi Yoshi in Vienna. There are a lot of small sushi places in the area, but good ones are hard to find. Also, it's convenient that Sushi Yoshi sells gift certificates at www.restaurant.com and when they are having coupon deals (when are they not having coupon deals?!), you can get them for dirt cheap. Granted you have to keep to their rules and regulations, but it's an awesome deal. Just make sure you are one of the firsts to get them, or they will definitely be sold out.

Onto the food! The sushi here is really fresh and the sashimi pretty much falls apart in your mouth, both marks of a pretty tasty sushi devouring experience if you ask me.

Green Mussels <3 The redder ones are covered with a sriracha+mayo ish type of sauce. The lighter colored one came in a butter sauce, which was not really my favorite.

Eggplant covered in 3 different sauces. Not very memorable - in my opinion, the sauces were too thick, and too rich in contrast with the eggplant.

Chirashi - rice with different veggies/toppings and a platter of different sashimi (salmon, tuna, albacore, yellowtail...) ppppppricey!

Vegetable Chirashi - miscellaneous vegetables over rice

Make your own sashimi platter - forgot what's on here, but really good quality stuff.

Dragon Roll and half Ichiro Roll - Dragon roll (crab stick, avocado & roe with eel on top) was alright. The eel had a lot of bones, which I often find to be the problem with the dragon roll, which is one of my favorites. The Ichiro Roll (shrimp tempura & avocado wrapped with eel & avocado) was good, but also not anything super special.

California Roll with Roe Hand Roll & Spicy Crunchy Salmon+Avocado Hand Roll - They definitely don't try to stiff you on ingredients here. These hand rolls were very full, very filling, and quite tasty! The salmon one was really good, but I did sort of feel like I was wasting the salmon eating it that way, since it was harder to really taste/enjoy it. But still, job tastily done.

*drumroll........*

Hamachi Kama - This was OH SO VERY DELICIOUS. Hamachi kama is the cheek of yellowtail fish, typically baked in a salt and soy sauce marinade. There was a tonnnn of meat to eat, and it was perfectly cooked and seasoned. And at a very reasonable price! I could have easily just had this dish with rice and been completely thrilled and full. The only thing to watch out for when eating hamachi kama is not to miss out on any meat! There's lots of crevices and "hidden" meat, so make sure you get it all!

Ok, so that's all, if you live in the area, or find yourself visiting the DC/Northern Virginia area & craving some quality Japanese food, stop by Sushi Yoshi! Be forewarned it's kind of hard to find if you're not from around, though. There's a bunch of other great eats in Vienna also! Be sure to make a pit stop at Vienna Inn for some cheapo chili dogs and some great cheap breakfast :)
