So I decided to try Firefly because there was a good Groupon for it a while ago. It's a little out of the way (a lot), but I thought why not? The place is pretty nice and cozy, though totally out of place in the random plaza it's in. The menu overall is pretty expensive for what they're serving. When we went on Sunday, they had a special burger menu, which was much more moderately priced, but burgers aren't really something I'm feeling when I go to a place like this. We ended up getting the Maine Lobster risotto ($24), the Sauteed Duroc Farms Pork Schnitzel ($25), and 2 glasses of wine ($15) -- came in at $69 including tax, and my groupon was for $65, victory!
Our fancy bread basket. Not a fan of the bread, but the little breadsticks were quite fun to eat, and they gave us a delicious herby butter spread to go with.
Sauteed Duroc Farms Pork Schnitzel: I'd have to say this was the better of the two dishes. The pork was crusted perfectly with bread crumbs, covered in lemon caper sauce, and served with atop a bed of vegetables.
Maine Lobster Risotto: I'm torn about this one. There were lots of big lobster chunks, which is awesome in my book, since a lot of places will say "lobster" risotto, but in fact there's just some wimpy little lobster shreds mixed in. The dish overall was very rich and creamy, which I'm sure a lot of people like, but after a few really good bites, it got to be too much for me. There was a really great balance of vegetables mixed in though, yum!
The food and wine were good, but I probably wouldn't come back here partly because it's out of the way and partly because I don't think the value really justifies the cost. Suffice it to say, I wouldn't have come here without the groupon except maybe during their happy hour. Our server was really nice, but rather slow. All in all, cute place, pretty good food, but make sure you bring a fat wallet.
